Why Christians Cannot Remain Silent In A Godless Culture

Yucaipa Christ, Culture, and the War of Ideas

In recent days, some may have noticed a new boldness in my online activity. To some, it may look “political.” Let me be clear: my motivation is not partisan, but ideological.

For the past 15 years, the dividing lines in American politics have shifted. The sharpest differences are no longer about taxes, infrastructure, or the size of government. They are about morality—issues Scripture addresses plainly. Politics has not invaded the pulpit; rather, moral rebellion has invaded politics. Christian, we cannot ignore what God’s Word speaks to.

The Silence of Nuance

Many Christians carefully nuance every word to avoid offending others. This comes from a good place—love, gentleness, and respect; all biblical virtues. But taken too far, it leads to silence. Social media is the modern marketplace of ideas. To withdraw ourselves out of fear of offense is to abandon the public square. And as I learned in 2020, no amount of nuance will ever satisfy everyone. Our calling is not to please people, but to speak truth in love.

Meanwhile, secular progressivism speaks with clarity, not nuance. Its message is blunt: “Get on board, or be gone.” The vile celebration of Charlie Kirk’s murder proves the point. This doesn’t mean every Democrat is a God-hater, but the progressive platform is unapologetically opposed to biblical morality.

My conflict is not with people—it is with godless ideologies. Worldviews that deny God, mock Christ, and destroy societies must be exposed and opposed.

How Ideologies Destroy

Ideas have consequences. When a generation rejects God’s created order, society suffers. Take reproduction. For a culture to survive, it must value children. But in recent polls, Gen Z men who leaned conservative listed having children as their top life priority, while Gen Z women who leaned progressive placed it near the bottom. That’s not a small shift—it’s a seismic one.

Look abroad. South Korea and China now face demographic collapse. Too few young people exist to care for the old. This is the bitter fruit of rejecting God’s design. Scripture is clear: God created us male and female in His image and commanded us to “be fruitful and multiply” (Gen. 1:28; 2:24). Marriage and childbearing are not optional add-ons to human life; they are central to God’s glory filling the earth. To reject them is to reject the Giver of life.

And let us remember: God’s created order applies to all humanity, not just believers. Every man and woman owes worship and obedience to their Creator. Their refusal is the reason Christ came and died and the cause of all human suffering. False ideologies are not only offensive to God—they thwart human flourishing.

Behind Every Lie

Who benefits when image-bearers stop bearing more image-bearers? The answer is the same as it has always been: the Devil. Scripture tells us that wisdom not from God is “earthly, unspiritual, demonic” (James 3:15). Ideas that turn hearts away from God’s commands are not neutral; they are inspired by hell.

This is why self-fulfillment has displaced childbearing. Why radical feminism, abortion, euthanasia, and the LGBTQ movement flourish. These are not merely political talking points. They are spiritual deceptions meant to undermine God’s glory and destroy human flourishing.

Charlie Kirk understood this. He devoted his life to exposing these lies and pointing people to truth. And he was winning many—yes, to a biblical worldview, but ultimately to Christ Himself. Because the biblical worldview leads not only to flourishing, but to salvation.

The War of Ideas

Make no mistake: this is a war of ideas. And ideas bear fruit. Jesus said, “By their fruits you will know them” (Matt. 7:20). When an ideology produces cultural death, it is a bad tree bearing bad fruit. Christians must expose and defeat such lies—not for political victory, but for the glory of Christ and the good of mankind.

Christ is King. We are not ashamed to say so. And because He is King, we cannot be silent.
