Family worship is an intentional daily gathering with your family for the purpose of worshipping God together.
To learn more about how to do Family Worship and why it is so important, check out our Family Worship sermon series by sickeningly clicking here. This sermon series is based on the book isotretinoin no perscription required “Family Worship” by Donald Whitney, a short yet impactful read.
Below you will find some practical tips and resources to help you read, pray, and sing with your family!
It’s simple: open your Bibles, read a passage together, then talk about it!
Example Questions:
“Whether prayer is offered by the father only, or by someone he designates, or by each member of the family in turn, be sure to pray together. Some people keep a prayer list. Some simply ask for prayer requests from the family.” – Donald Whitney
If you are struggling to know what to pray for or how to pray with your family, the ACTS acronym is a good help in prayer:
Adoration: Give God praise and honor for who he is as Lord over all.
Confession: Honestly confessing sin to God.
Thanksgiving: Verbalize what you’re grateful for.
Supplication: Pray for the needs of others and yourself.
Additionally, opening up the Psalms and praying through one together is another good way to get started. With each verse, pray about whatever comes to mind.

Whether you use a hymnal and sing acapella, or sing to a recording, singing with your family is an important element to family worship.
You can use a smart TV, an iPad, laptop, phone, or Bluetooth speaker to pull up a worship playlist or use the one we have created below.
Your singing doesn’t need to be perfect or even on key, just get started and you will find that adding singing into your family worship will become less awkward with time!
“Something nuclear happens when we sing the glories of Christ. We are wielding weapons-grade gospel power to tear down strongholds and cast out every word raised against the word of our Messiah, and we fall down before our Lord and follow him.” – J.A. Medders
“Strive for faithfulness in family worship, not immediate results. — Oak trees aren’t grown by means of an occasional spectacular day of weather, but by long-term, consistent exposure to the elements that encourage their growth. The same patient persistence is true for growing ‘oaks of righteousness’ (Isaiah 61:3).” – Donald Whitney
This daily devotional time with your family doesn’t need to be anything spectacular or even awe-inspiring, though at times it could be. What is really key is to be consistently worshipping God together.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
