Some argue that the Old Testament Law is no longer relevant and there’s no need to talk about sin anymore. In this passage, Paul shows us why the Law is good. Though Christ fulfilled the Law, Paul believes the Law was necessary to make visible our depravity and the destructive work sin seeks to accomplish in our lives. At the same time, the Law was necessary to reveal God’s perfect and holy character. Without the Law, would we know God’s holy standard? Without the law, would we understand our need for a Savior?
