Have you ever come to a place in your life that you’ve cried out to the Lord in desperation, “Why won’t you take this sinful desire from me? Why do I keep going back to it?” If so, you can resonate with the war within that Paul describes in this passage in Romans 7. Christian, you’re going to wrestle with the sin nature until Jesus comes back. This is not an excuse to sin, but a call to fight the flesh and hope in Christ!
Death releases us from the law. It’s true in marriage, its true in salvation. We died to the law and are bound to Christ. But what does that mean? Check out this message on Romans 7:1-6!

The members of our body can used for righteous or unrighteous purposes. As followers of Christ, we have been set free from sin’s power and are free to choose how we use these “weapons” or “instruments.” Let us decide to use our bodies to the glory of God and the good of others
In Christ, our identity has been changed. We have died to sin; how can we still live in it? Paul’s answer: find your identity in Christ. We have been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him to walk in newness of life!
Though our sin abounds, God’s grace super-abounds! We may feel that we’ve out-paced God in our sin but thanks to be God, we are justified by one man’s act of righteousness – namely Jesus’ sacrificial act of obedience even to death on the cross. As Christians it is our sacred mission to ensure the nations hear this good news!
There are only two types of people in the world: those in Adam and those in Christ. Each of these men was designated to be a representative for many. In Adam we have sin and death. In Christ, we have life and righteousness. Choose Jesus!
In Christ we have much more to be grateful for than we could ever have to be worried about. The death of Jesus is all the evidence we need to know that God’s disposition toward us is that of love. When the circumstances of our lives cause us to doubt that, we can remind ourselves that we have been made right with God and it’s all an act of His grace. Sometimes we need to rehearse the Gospel in our own minds instead of our woes.
Where, O death, is your victory? Where is your sting? It is gone forever because Jesus has defeated death! The celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is more than religion. It is restoration of what was lost in the Garden of Eden, victory. Do you hope in Christ for eternal life? If so, the resurrection ought to prompt you to steadfastness and Gospel activity.
